COINS AND MEDALS
Our coin-collection consists of, in addition to a few copper and bronze roman coins and a few gold coins, a set of 358 antoninianus, roman coins made of silver and copper dating from the 3rd century AD. The oldest of them was minted during Caracalla's reign (211-217).
Concerning our medals, most of them date from the 19th and 20th centuries and were minted to celebrate the building of a new establishment, the anniversary of a Brussels institution, the international and universal exhibitions or even to reward the CPAS's activities. We also have among our collections medals awarded personalities of Brussels artistic and political world, including numerous royal figures, from John the Fearless, duke of Burgundy, to Baudouin of Belgium.
